Shirley Hall Butcher
    
    
        Shirley Hall Butcher, 83, of Urbana, OH formerly of Airport Road in Sutton, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on September 18, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Strange Creek, WV on April 11, 1934. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oran Howard Butcher; mother, Macel Hall Sparks; brother, Ted Sparks and sister’s, Fern Hall Johnson, Phyllis Hall Brown, Roberta Sparks Fannin. 
       Shirley retired from the Flatwoods Exxon Station as manager and enjoyed being employed by John Skidmore and meeting and talking with Senator Robert Byrd on several occasions as he stayed at the Sutton Lane Motel where she was employed. She was a graduate of Widen High School. After graduation she worked as a book keeper in Washington, DC and got to attend the Eisenhower inauguration. 
       She is survived by her children, Greg Butcher of Cabell, OH, and Sandra Lamoey of Galveston, TX; brothers, Kelly Sparks of Ronceverte, Mark Sparks of Buckhannon, Rush Sparks of Jeffrey, Joe Sparks of Duck, and a sister, Sherry Sparks Fasanelli of Procious. She leaves two grandchildren, Erin Butcher-Lyden and Matthew Butcher, and two great-grandchildren, Liam Lyden and Miles Butcher-Lyden.
      Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Strange Creek, WV at 2:00 p.m.

Robert Lee Bowman
    
    Robert Lee Bowman, 84, of Sutton passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at WV Veterans Nursing Center, Clarksburg, WV. 
     He was born September 22, 1932 in Orgas, WV, the son of the late Vollie & Cora L Brown Bowman. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Kathaleen Bowman.
     Robert was a Accountant for Greyhound Bus Lines/Dial, a Sutton Town Councilman for 2 years, a Air Force Veteran of The Korean Conflict and was a Baptist by Faith.  
     Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Frances Kay Lloyd Bowman, sons, Randy Lee Bowman (Susan Brims) of Phoenix, AR, Robert Alan Bowman (Amy Riordan) of NY, brother, Lester J. Bowman of Calvin, WV, sisters, Ruth Ann Christman and Karen Sue Rhodes both of Ohio, grandchildren, Alex, Adam, Graham, Clark, Emma and Darcy, great-granddaughter, Riley.
     Graveside service will be held in his honor at 4 pm, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, WV.

Roy Lawrence Marsh
    
     Roy Lawrence Marsh, 66, of Gassaway, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017, at his residence. 
     He was born April 23, 1951 in Sutton to the late Clarence Chester & Eva Lucille Berry Marsh. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Marsh.
     Roy was a Mechanic and was a member of Stump Chapel Baptist Church, Tesla.
     He is survived by his son, Roy Lee Marsh (Kelly) of Ravenna, OH, daughter, Malissa Johnson of Braxton County, WV, brothers, David William Marsh of Little Birch, Cam Chester Marsh of Tesla, and James Roger Marsh of Gassaway, sisters, Shirley Ann Long of Flatwoods, Clara Lee Parsons, of Tesla, Margie Elizabeth Tate of OH and Virginia Long of Sutton, grandchildren, Katie M. Marsh, Chase Marsh, Skyler Marsh, Aidan Leon Johnson and Nigel Cole Johnson.
     Funeral services were held 1:00 pm, Friday, September 8, 2017 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Linn Schiefer officiating. Burial followed at Tesla Cemetery, Tesla. Friends called 1 hour before the service at the funeral home.

Richard Lee Garvin
    
     
     Richard Lee Garvin, 46, of Wallback, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his residence.
      He was born August 26, 1971 in Summersville, WV to Carol Smallwood Garvin Skinner and the late Ronald Garvin. Also, preceding him in death is his brother, Jimmie Demastus, Jr., sister, Crystal Dawn Garvin, step-father, Leonard Skinner, and grandparents, Elmer & Esel Smallwood and Joe & Nellie Garvin.
     Richard was a dedicated member of Braxton County Emergency Medical Services for 10 years. He dearly loved working in the community and working with his EMS family.
     Left to cherish his memory is his companion, Kim Short of Wallback, mother, Carol Smallwood Garvin Skinner of Diana, WV, sons, Richard Lee Garvin, II (Cathy) of Diana, R.J. Garvin (Hayle Moore) and Cory Scott Garvin all of Little Birch, and Jeffrey Garvin of Ireland, WV, daughter, Katlyn Nicole Garvin of Ireland and grandsons, Richard Noah Garvin and Colton Gage Garvin. 
     Funeral services were held 1:00 pm, Monday, September 4, 2017 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Homer Gibson officiating. Burial followed at Garvin Family Cemetery, Diana, WV. Friends called 6-9 pm, Sunday, September 3, at the funeral home.

Linda Kay Hosey
    
     Linda Kay Hosey, 68, of Sutton, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Braxton Memorial Hospital, Gassaway.
    She was born August 19, 1949 in Sutton to Charlie & Marie Woodley Hosey. She is also preceded in death by four sisters, and one brother.
     Linda was a Sutton High School Graduate “Class of 1968”, Homemaker and Christian by faith.
    She is survived by her brother, Charles G. Hosey of Sutton, sisters, Joyce Hosey of Sutton and Deanea Allen (Richard) of Fairmont, and three nephews.
    Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Pastor L.A. Sperrey, officiating. Burial followed at Braxton Memorial Cemetery, Sutton. Friends called one hour before services at the funeral home.

Leota Karol Hatmaker
    
    
     Leota Karol Hatmaker of Sutton passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Braxton Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and a compassionate angel- Sooner Knight.
      Karol was born August 3, 1938, in Braxton County to the late Junie and Judith Phillips Bright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, an infant brother, Denver Bright and Harold “Eugene” Bright.
      She was a graduate of Sutton High School and retired from Go Mart as a deli clerk. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds, working jigsaw puzzles, cooking for her family, spending time with her friends and making Braxton County her home. Karol accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior on April 15th, 2017.
     Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Sally (Bruce) Clark of Bunker Hill, Jeff (Lynn) Hatmaker of Sutton and Becky (Greg) Morris of Pinch, grandchildren, Melissa (Derek) Butts, Tristan and Benton Hatmaker, great-grandchildren, Reese Pennington and Colton Butts, sisters, Sue Showalter of Newville along with several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Sis Craft, Connie Messenger and Norma Cutlip. Karol is also survived by her beloved granddog, Glory Morris.
     The family would like to thank the entire team at Braxton Memorial Hospital and Braxton Health Care Center for the care they have provided.
     Funeral services were held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Rev Charles Thomas Bolen officiating. Friends called one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial followed the service at Newville Cemetery, Newville, WV.
